What a Day!

Today is the first day of school. Anisa is in 11th grade and Sara is in 8th grade. It's shocking how fast time goes! Here are a couple of pics of the girls. Sara and Sam walked to school this morning. Anisa didn't have to go to school until noon. Lucky for her because she just got home last night from Washington.

Our next exciting thing that happened today was a new friend! A pileated Woodpecker! He was HUGE!!!! He flew onto the tree as I was at the sink and I started yelling to Travis. Travis was afraid I'd scare him, but I didn't...luckily. :) He saw the suet, smelled the suet and finally got to the suet. I'm guessing he was around 13-15 inches long. We've been waiting for a pileated woodpecker to visit us forever. We usually only see the little downy woodpeckers ~who we like, but this guy was a special treat! :) I was so happy Travis just happened to be home for lunch!! Now I must finish my chores. Have a fantastic day! :)

Wow, that is a rare treat! We live out in the woods and I saw one the first year we were there, but none since. So cool!

Cute girls...already for school. Our girls have been in school for a week and a half and I'm still not with the swing of things. I couldn't figure out who was rattling around the house at 6:15 this morning. It was DD2, all dressed and ready for school. Oh...yeah. lol!

That woodpecker looks pretty amazing. Great pictures! In our last home we had a woodpecker who would peck at the beam that stuck out from our home.
